American Buffalo Soldiers Re-Enactors Association 35 day summer boot camp was run by Charles F. Long II, a self-pronounced colonel [1]

Anthony Haynes died at the camp on July 1, 2001 after being forced to march in 111-degree temperatures for five hours, a time in which investigators said he became disoriented and was "observed eating dirt.". Charles Long was sentenced to six years in prison in 2005 [2] [3][4]

He was released from prison February 2010 [5]
