Banham Marshalls College was a now closed school for children from age 7 to 16 with behavioural problems and special needs placed by local authorities from across the country.

It was founded in 1975. It gradually expanded and became Banham Marshalls College in 1992, moving to a purpose-built site in the village and taking up to 120 pupils.

It was closed after an investigaton into child abuse.

Former employees were charged and convicted in court The offences took place between 1975 and 1986 [1][2]. Among the offences were forcing a boy to eat his own regurgitated food after being made to eat something he did not like and beating another with a plimsoll and studded belt because he thought he was lying about stealing money.

Another incident involved a boy being made to smash his new toys with a hammer after damaging a piece of furniture.
