Bridges Boys Academy or simply Bridges Academy was a behavior modification facility located on Gist Road near Bend Oregon [1].

The facility was for boys only aged 14 to 17. [2]

The length of the program were about 14 months [2]

The program was founded in 1997 and they could detain 30 boys [2].

Program structure

They used a level system. They used levels 0-4 with privileges and responsibilities gained at each level.


The facility discourage visited from the family during the first 2 to 3 months until the detained boy had accepted his banishment and had reached the second level in the program. Then visits were allowed every 2 month. The first two ones were seminars where the family had to work on bury the effects of the fact that the boy was banished from his own home and detained at the facility [3].

Home visits were allowed when the boy reachs the forth level [3].

There is no info about how critical letters from the boy are handled. There were no info about phone policies.


Punishments could be work assignments. Runaways could be ordered to participate in a wilderness course before being allowed to return to the facility [3].
