The Oliverian School is a boarding school using behavior modification methods. It is located in New Hampshire [1]

Program structure

They use a point system, where the teenagers can earn points in different area placing them within three categories. Each category determind levels of privileges and consequences [2].

The three categories are:

Steward In Good Standing Not In Good Standing
Description of Student Stewards are students that are examples for the community. They are leaders in their dormitories and complete all of their daily responsibilities. They are on time for their academic classes, community meeting, meals and all other responsibilities. They consistently put in effort in class and study hall. Stewards have not had any discipline infractions the previous week and strive to uphold the Code of Conduct. Students "In Good Standing" are working towards being leaders in the community. They take their dormitory responsibilities seriously but may be somewhat inconsistent. They attend their academic classes, community meeting, meals and all other responsibilities regularly. The majority of the time they put forth effort in class and study hall. These students work to uphold the Code of Conduct but may have one or two minor discipline infractions the previous week. These students may excel in some areas of life at Oliverian and be working to improve in others. Students "Not In Good Standing" are struggling significantly with one or more areas of their life at Oliverian. They may have had a major discipline issue, poor attendance or not have putting forth sufficient effort in their classes.

Allowance $30.00 regular allowance. These students may make requests for additional activities. $20.00 regular allowance. These students may make requests for additional activities. $10.00 regular allowance. Allowance requests will only be considered for needs based requests.
Curfew 10:00 p.m. 9:30 p.m. 9:00 p.m.
Cellular Phones May have their cellular phones and do not have to turn them in at night. Their phones should be turned off and not used during the school day (until 4:30 p.m.) May have a cellular phone. It is turned in to the dormitory parent at 10:15 p.m. and returned at 4:30 p.m. the next day. Dormitory parents will hold cellular phone until standing improves.
Weekend Trips and Activities There will be special off campus trips that are only available to "Stewards.” Students "In Good Standing" are eligible to go on most trips off campus except those that are only available to "Stewards.” These students will only be allowed off campus for adventure based activities or dormitory team building.
Other Incentives There may be additional weekly bonuses or trips and "Stewards" will be eligible for all of these. There may be additional weekly bonusStudents "Not In Good Standing" will not be eligible for any weekly bonuses. Students "Not In Good Standing" will not be eligible for any weekly bonuses.

  • Room and Dormitory Responsibilities
  • Attendance—class, community meeting, meals, clean up, study hall,
  • Class Room Participation and Preparedness
  • Discipline
