Xu Xiangyang Education Program and Training Workroom is a behavior modification program in China.

The detained teenagers are forced to march several hundred miles during their stay in the program.

The program detains children aged between 8 and 18.

The price of the program is 2,000 yuan (US$250) per person each month [1].

Program structure

After some basic boot camp training at the school, the children are sent out on the highways followed by staff. They sleep in trucks and eat standing by the road. From an description of a photo [2]

The Xu Xiangyang Education and Training Workroom is a special boarding school which enrols problem children, who are considered bad students in ordinary schools and regarded as uneducable by their parents. The school has adopted a quasi-military management and designed special programs to educate students. All the students travel from one province to another with their teachers and learn through training given throughout the tour, sleeping in trucks and eating in the open. The training is severely strict and mostly aims at cultivating the children's patience, concentration, perseverance and the ability of self-dependence in daily life. The program includes physical training, writing, dictation, audition and calculating training.
